MEMO01
For the last few days, I have been preparing for a career promotion. It makes me feel troubled. So in my downtime today, I picked *The Dream of Red Mansion *and began reading. I had read it several years ago. At this time, the book becomes much more interesting.
*The Dream of Red Mansion * is one of China's most famous novel, if not the most noble. But I'm just a common reader who happens to be intrigued. The author explained the story's origin in chapter one. The underlying theme of the book is an anti-hero's story, in which the stone travels to the human world, expecting it would be the most bustling and comfortable land, only to discover that life is nothingness.
Besides, China lacks a strong fiction tradition. To persuade readers, writers always fabricate a history that records genuine people and true events. And it's astonishing to see Caoxueqin argued this stereotype by borrowing a character's mouth. His strategy is reconfirmed what is true. Is there a specific date, people, and location? Popular stories nowadays are filled with clichés; characters speak in ways that do not correspond to their social status. Writers don't care about their characters either, they simply put every great word into figures and don't consider how to show their temperament. His thought is that of modern style.
